Don't laugh, guys, but I watched that Manawatu-Auckland finish with my heart going like a drum and I still can't work out if the TMO got it right 😅 Seven points in it, so that one call basically decided the game? Would love it if someone who knows the law book could explain what he was actually checking for 🙏
Honestly I've rewatched that finish more times than I'd admit at work 😂 seven points either way, one TMO call, and my heart was doing the same drum solo as yours mate. From where I sat it looked like the law book backed the ruling, but the real answer is whoever had Auckland in their TAB multi that night definitely disagrees 🤣

Chur, basically the TMO can only check certain things, foul play, and in the lead-up to a try it's the last couple of phases like knock-ons, offside, that sort of thing. He can't just go hunting through the whole move like a punter re-litigating a lost multi 😄 In the Manawatu-Auckland finish he stuck to what he was allowed to look at, and with seven points in it you can argue either way, but by the law book the call was fair. My multi landed that night too, so I've got zero complaints 🔥
Funny how everyone suddenly became a law professor the moment their multi's on the line 😂 SweetAsNZ's "couple of phases" summary sounds confident, sure thing mate, but in reality how many of you actually read it vs just replaying it til it suited ya? Still learning this stuff so genuine question for LockLegend, if the TMO only gets a certain window to check, doesn't that mean the on-field ref's call basically stands unless something clear shows up in it? That's how I understood it watching the Manawatu game back, and it would explain why they didn't overturn more in a finish that tight 😅🙏
