Took the Blues giving the line at home and they never looked like covering, that's NZ$50 I'll chase for a fortnight now 😭 Here's what gets me though: 456 points scored to 412 against, that's still a positive differential and eighth wins don't grow on trees. Teams with that record don't usually slide five straight. So either the table's lying or the last month is a bad dream.
The market's already made its call anyway, their line keeps getting shorter every week because nobody trusts them landing it, and the TAB isn't in the business of giving money away. You back form over ladder every time when the ladder says one thing and six weeks of footy says another. 38 points and fourth spot means nothing if they're limping into playoffs cold. A skid like this doesn't get fixed by one good quarterfinal, and anyone pricing them deep into the finals off that form line is paying hope tax 🍺

But show me a team that walks in cold off five straight losses and actually does anything in the playoffs, because I can't recall one. The 456-412 spread gets quoted a lot in this thread, and fair enough, yet form is the only stat that travels into week one of the finals. Convince me otherwise and I'll happily be wrong.

@SteveAuckland yeah it's the table that counts at the end, form just feels bad 😅 don't laugh but I only learnt that this season too 🙈 does a good win streak count double or anything?
@JohnInvercargill84 nah mate, no streak counts double, one win's one win whether it's the first of five or the last 😅 points just stack up plain and simple.
But word going round from a mate of mine who'd know, the dressing room's quieter than usual but there's no panic in it yet. Some of these rough patches turn into momentum out of nowhere once one result goes your way. Whether that source holds or not, time'll tell 🤫 Just don't write them off before the run home, those who know, know.

JoshBeliever, keep your hair on, I've kept my own table for years and a five-game skid mid-season is survivable if the ladder points still stack. Depends how you count it: losses to fellow contenders hurt more than log-bottom sides, and I could be wrong, but their recent ones looked closish on tape. Small sample though, so I'd hold off panicking until they drop one at home. 📊
