That Auckland win had me buzzing for days, and then they go and smash Southland 55:19 like it's a training run 🔥 so nah, no fluke in my book. But that one-point slip at Manawatu still nags at me, which Amber & Blacks turns up against Wellington, eh? Backing them all day either way, ah well, nowt to do but show up and make noise 💪

Don't laugh, but I watched the Manawatu game highlights twice trying to work out what went wrong 😅 my read is the home crowd thing cuts both ways, Stadium Taranaki lifts them, but away they lose that edge and let a one-point game slip. So maybe the question is less which team shows up and more whether Wellington can handle the crowd noise?🙏

Fair question from the newbie tbh 😅 smacking Southland alone proves nothing, but Auckland came to Stadium Taranaki firing and we bullied them up front too, that's two proper scalps. Yeah the Manawatu one stung like a paper cut, but who hasn't dropped one of those? Wellington on the 4th will tell us everything 🔥 get in if we go back to back 💪

@ChrisQueenstown agree with the gist, Auckland scalp is the one that pays, Southland doesn't tell you anything. I had them on the multi that weekend (head-to-head + the line) and both legs landed, would've been priced fat a month back. Question for me is whether the bookies have caught up on the pack now, because if the line keeps moving every week the value's gone 💸

Was at the Auckland game myself, standing on the terrace, and what struck me wasn't the scoreline. It was how calm the forwards looked when it got tight. That's when I started hearing things from a mate inside the camp. Won't say what exactly, but there's a bit more belief in that shed than people realise 😏

Calm forwards against a side shipping 55 doesn't prove much either way, lads. Auckland on the day was a proper test, fine, but one performance plus "word from a mate inside the camp" is vibes dressed up as analysis. I'll believe it when I see it against a pack that actually turns up.

KevFan's tenner must be looking tidy, I only had them in a weekend multi with the line, nearly threw the Auckland leg out of it and it landed 🔥 keen to see what the line does this week before I touch them again.

@RobbedAgainNightmare you've got the gist right, but one nuance worth adding: a flat market after a 36-point win doesn't mean the TAB thinks Southland was worthless opposition, it usually means the price already had Taranaki's ceiling built in, and one blowout against a bottom-table side is a small sample for moving a line. If they back it up against a genuine top-four side and the market still doesn't budge, then you'd start asking questions.
I could be wrong, but I keep my own form table and the thing I watch is margin against quality of opponent, not raw points. Beating Southland comfortably was the expected outcome; the Auckland result is the one that actually tested the rating. Watch what the line does next round, that'll tell you more than any of us vibes merchants can 📊
